Manager Overcomes Big Challenges with
Horizon Technology
Recently, John Keith brought onboard
a “helping hand.” A new, automated sample
preparation system takes the water sample,
adds the proper solvents needed, and
extracts out the pesticides and herbicides,
replacing a previously labor-intensive
method that the staff had to manually
perform. Staff time spent on this chore
has been reduced by up to 70 percent
thanks to this automated extraction
system, he adds.

Northeast Analytical,
Inc., Develops a Method for Determining
PCBs in Water Using Horizon Technology
Solution
Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB) are
a worldwide contamination problem. Because
PCBs are long lived in the environment
and bioaccumulate throughout the food
chain a great deal of research and regulations
has been implemented. Northeast Analytical
met the challenge by optimizing an SPE
method based on the Horizon Technology
SPE-DEX 4790 instrumentation.

Bentazone
in River Water
When the Bavarian Water Management Agency
lowered the detection limit of Bentazone
to 50 ng/L for the year-long study they
were conducting of the Isar River, they
had to develop an entirely new automated
SPE method that was able to handle the
influent samples and achieve the desired
detection limit.
