New Method and SPE Disk Holder Expedites Highly Particulate Semi-Volatile Sample Processing

Salem, NH, May 2011 - Today Horizon Technology introduces a new application note centered around the efficiency and ability to process higly sediment laden samples while improving throughput and recoveries.

The Applications Department has perfected a new method utilizing the Horizon Technology Fast Flow Sediment Disk Holder for use on the SPE-DEX® 4790. This innovative disk holder allows a sample to be processed using a 100 mm pre-filter with an economical 47 mm SPE disk. By using the pre-filter system the whole sample is able to be processed through quickly while providing exceptional recoveries. Eliminating the step of separating particulates from the sample.

The greater surface area allows for much faster flow rates and can handle highly particulate samples typical of EPA Method 3535 and 8270D. However, by using the 47 mm SPE disk solvent use remains relatively low.
