Introduce
New Sample Preparation Technology
for Water Analysis
Oasis®
HLB Disk Creates Greater Efficiencies
for the Environmental Laboratory
Salem, NH, November 3, 2008 Horizon Technology, Inc., and Waters Corporation have introduced the Oasis HLB Disk, a solid-phase sample preparation product for the analysis of EPA Method 8270 and 1694, endocrine disruptors, personal care products, pharmaceutical residues in surface water and drinking water, and other emerging contaminants. The single-use disks are designed to handle larger and dirtier samples leading to greater throughput for the environmental laboratory.
The
water-wettable Oasis HLB Disks
enhance the retention of polar
compounds and work with a wide
spectrum of compounds and extraction
solvents for samples with a pH
range of 1 - 14. Oasis HLB Disks
are built on the Horizon Technology®
Atlantic® Disk platform, widely
used by environmental laboratories
analyzing samples with gas and
liquid chromatography and mass
spectrometry in compliance with
approved methods of analysis.
With the introduction of Oasis
HLB Disks, the Oasis HLB sorbent
for solid-phase extraction protocols
is now available in a disk format.
The Oasis HLB Disks incorporate
the first hydrophilic-lipophilic-balanced
water-wettable copolymer optimal
for any sample cleanup and are
unique in their purity, reproducibility,
stability, and retention characteristics.
They are designed for use with
the Horizon Technology SPE-DEX®
4790 Automated Extractor System.

and oil & grease in aqueous samples.
Semi-volatile organic compounds,
including pesticides, herbicides,
TPHs, PAHs, PCBs, hormones, endocrine
disruptors, pharmaceutical by-products
and numerous other trace organics
are being monitored and tested
globally. Horizon Technology's
products provide automated sample
preparation solutions to allow
laboratories to process large
volumes of the "whole", particulate
laden water sample, enabling the
achievement of low detection levels.
Laboratories worldwide have found
Horizon's family of automated
sample preparation systems increase
productivity, improve the accuracy
of their results, and lower operating
costs. For more information on
