Service Engineer, US - Salem, NH

Full-time: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Reports to:
Customer Support Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all in-house repair and service on Horizon Technology equipment
  • Support the Horizon Technology customers and field sales organization
  • On-site installation of diagnostic equipment at customer locations
  • Assimilate technical information for Horizon products; demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of product line and theory associated with the product line
  • Answer customer questions in a professional manner by phone, e-mail and fax
  • Show responsibility/ownership towards helping the customer
  • Follow through on all customer contacts which require additional information not immediately available
  • Follow through on all customer contacts to insure reported issues/requests are resolved.
  • Enter all calls into Siebel customer database
  • Assume training responsibilities for assigned expert area(s); maintain service training documents and presentations; work with R&D, Marketing, and other departments to create new product service training presentations for products launched in expert area
  • Look for innovative opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of department
  • Complete assigned duties in a timely manner
  • Work on innovative service contract offerings
  • Sell service contracts
  • Maintain and create preventative maintenance kits and procedures to be sold as product offerings

One or more of the following:

  • Convert electronic documents into appropriate formats for faxing and email directly from Siebel Service database software
  • Monitor troubleshooting and replacement calls; identify product problems
  • Develop service and troubleshooting materials for the web site
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy versions of presentation slides related to service
  • Present at meetings, sales rep and distributor training events and customer training seminars.
  • Maintain service section on the Customer Support Department Intranet site and FAQ site
  • Run reports on the Customer Support database for tracking, filing and archiving report
  • Write Service SOPs
  • Distribute e-mail among proper staff and monitor completion of replies

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 1 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
    of education and experience.
  • 1 year in Technical Services position at similar company
  • Mastery of technical information on product line
  • Travel up to 25%

Engineering Manager , US - Salem, NH

Position Description:
Horizon Technology, a leading manufacturer of analytical laboratory instruments has an exciting career opportunity for an Engineering Manager. This is an Engineering leadership position primarily responsible for leading new product development and process improvement projects, as well as sustaining engineering. The person selected for this position will require minimal supervision, have very high standards for work quality, be very resourceful, pay very close attention to detail, have excellent verbal/written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    Product definition, cost estimation, financial justification, risk abatement, scheduling/tracking, resource allocation, collaboration with other departments and vendors, execution, and verification of results as compared to documented requirements. Anticipate/resolve problems before they occur. Must be proficient in creating all documents associated with the company's Design Control Process (ISO ).

  • Leadership:
    As an Engineering leader, you will be expected to lead by example by taking a hands-on role when necessary. You will be deeply engaged in cross-functional and department efforts to resolve technical and process problems.

  • Planning & Reporting:
    Prepare comprehensive annual budget and staffing plan for Senior Management review and approval. Consult with other departments as needed. Proactively execute and track plan. Advise management of changing conditions that may affect plan. Produce clear and concise reports when requested.

  • Documentation Control:
    Knowledge of best practices as they apply to Engineering documents and configuration control, such as ECN's, Deviations, etc. Working knowledge of PLM systems is desirable.

  • Problem Solving:
    Process & Technical: When investigating a problem, establish the facts based on collected data. In the absence of data, establish/drive process to obtain it. Analyze data to determine root cause, working with inter-department support identify solution, and execute/verify through implementation and completion. When personal knowledge is limited, study subject matter in sufficient depth to make final decisions and/or recommendations to Management

  • Performance Management: Ensure that direct reports are highly motivated and consistently perform at world-class level. Use company's performance management system to conduct annual performance reviews, salary actions, special recognition and promptly address performance problems.

CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCAL TO THE NORTHERN MASS / SOUTHERN NH AREA

Requirements:

  • BS Electrical Engineering, a relevant science, or equivalent Experience required. MS degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years professional experience comprised of product design/development and project management
  • Must have a consistent track record for completing projects on time while meeting all key metrics.

  • Self-motivated, detailed oriented, and committed to meeting deadlines with a proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet challenging timelines in a fast-paced environment
