Field Service Engineer, US - Salem, NH

We have a opportunity within our Service Department for a Field Service Engineer. This person is responsible for installing new instruments, providing user training, repair, and maintenance services at our customer's sites to ensure optimal performance of Horizon Technology instruments.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and service instruments at customer facilities in North America.
  • Provide prompt and efficient onsite service and training.
  • Foster excellent customer relationships by establishing and maintaining close communication with customers to ensure optimal performance of customers' instruments.
  • Trouble shoot problems via telephone, diagnose and solve problems from nontechnical descriptions provided by our customers
  • Act independently to determine service required and perform methods and procedures needed to return customers' instruments to factory specifications.
  • Prepare and submit field reports of service performed and routinely update customer data base.
  • Prepare travel itinerary and maintain customer scheduling Customer Service Coordinator.
  • Itemize travel costs and work time for service work performed.

Skills and Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work to a schedule including extensive (up to 80%) travel.
  • The ability to work independently and strong client service relationship skills required.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and written, are also required.
  • Excellent technical/mechanical skills are a must.
  • Three or more years of related field experience installing, servicing and/or troubleshooting electro/mechanical laboratory instruments.
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or a related science.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Possess or able to obtain a passport for international travel (primarily Canada).
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in chemistry laboratory environments.
  • Fluent with computer use, Customer Relationship Management Software, and Microsoft Office tools.

Field Applications Support Specialist , US - Salem, NH

Key Duties:

  • Provides applications and product support to customers domestically and abroad.
  • Provides technical support to the Field Sales organization and International Distributors.
  • Assimilate technical information for Horizon products; demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of product line and theory associated with the product line.
  • Answer customer questions in a professional manner by phone, e-mail and fax.
  • Follow through on all customer contacts which require additional information not immediately available.
  • Follow through on all customer contacts related to service to insure reported issues/requests are resolved.
  • Enter all support calls into Siebel customer database.
  • Assume training responsibilities for assigned expert area(s); maintain training documents and presentations; work with R&D, Marketing, and other departments to create new product training presentation for new products launched.
  • Look for innovative opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of department.
  • Maintain demo equipment inventory
  • Document customer applications and create applications notes that will be published on the Horizon Website and shared with new end users. 
  • Perform System installations in the field
  • Perform Applications/Method development in the field.    
  • Convert electronic documents into appropriate formats for faxing and email directly from Siebel Service database software
  • Monitor troubleshooting and replacement calls; identify product problems
  • Develop Applications materials for the Web site
  • Present at Scientific meetings, Seminars, Sales Rep and Distributor training events.
  • Run reports on the Customer Support database for tracking, filing and archiving reports
  • Create SOPs
Education/Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry
  • 1 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year in Technical Services position at similar company
  • Experience with Solid Phase Extraction is desired

Travel Requirements:

This position is based in the Salem, NH Headquarters and will require domestic and international travel approximately 50%.

R&D Senior Designer/Drafter, US - Salem, NH

The R&D Senior Designer / Drafter will be part of the development effort for new products.  Working under the direction of the R&D Program Manager, this position will create models, drawings, assemblies, and specifications.  This person must be able to develop producible solutions using sheet metal, machining, castings, and plastics.  We are currently seeking an individual who can demonstrate a portfolio of quality drawings and mechanisms.  The selected candidate will be required to demonstrate SolidWorks proficiency and provide examples of detailed drawings.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate complex mechanical SolidWorks CAD models, layouts, assemblies, details, sketches, and notes with minimum direction
  • Check completed models, layouts, drawings, ECOs, and BOMs for clarity, completeness, and conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations
  • Apply GD&T as required
  • Investigate, recommend and assist in material selection and manufacturing process decisions of each piece part, mechanism and structure
  • Coordinate with departments affected by design developments
  • Maintain technical coordination with engineering and other departments
  • Meet project goals, particularly functionality, manufacturability, reliability, and cost goals
  • Participate in the formation and adherence of general policies, standards, and procedures in the department
  • Investigate and recommend tools and technology enhancements as required

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and manage the manufacturing engineering activity providing direction and
    support to production and other departments.

  • Develop and maintain assembly work instructions and manufacturing operating procedures.
  • Prepare floor and equipment layouts to promote flow, eliminate waste for efficient utilization of space.

  • Manage the transition of products from Research and Development to Manufacturing.

  • Develop manufacturing process to, reduce manufacturing cycle time, inventory, and implement quality and safety improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with Mechanical/Electrical engineers to develop cost effective designs and accurate drawings prior to production.
  • Generate detailed ECR/ECO to correct existing drawings, bill of materials to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical fixtures to manufacture products.
  • Work with Quality to monitor, improve and control manufacturing processes.
  • Work with the MRB to resolve nonconformance dispositions.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and bring assignments to successful completion.

Skills and Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment supporting the manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in electromechanical assemblies, pneumatics, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and plastics processing.
  • CAD proficient, Solid Works preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and written skills.
  • Hands on knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, ProfitKey preferred.
  • Experience with applying Lean Six Sigma techniques to manufacturing.

Staff/Cost Accountant, US - Salem, NH

This position will be exposed to multiple areas of accounting and financial reporting and will participate in day to day operations, multiple aspects of the month end close and the preparation of the financial reporting package.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost accounting analyses and reports, including inventory reconciliation,
    standard cost variance (PPV) and product gross margin.
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Maintain the standard costs for all products and BOM's.
  • Fixed assets.
  • Commissions.
  • Quarterly sales and use tax reporting.
  • Accounts receivable.
  • Analyze actual results against the budget/forecast.
  • Month end close and preparation of journal entries.
  • Year end close, tax workpapers and audit.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of accounting and finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Ability to utilize Costing and Inventory Modules of an ERP system (ProfitKey).
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication.
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
